JOHANNESBURG – OMODA is celebrating its third anniversary in South Africa after emerging as the country’s fastest-growing automotive brand last year.

Since its local debut in April 2023 with the C5, the marque has evolved from a single-model entrant into an established SUV brand with an expanding product range, retail network and aftersales footprint.

South Africa, OMODA’s first market on the continent, has played a pivotal role in this growth.

The brand has expanded its dealership network from 30 to 61 outlets nationwide, reinforcing its presence in a competitive passenger vehicle market.

Central to this success has been the C5, which introduced OMODA to style- and value-conscious buyers.

The model has recorded 15,219 sales to date, laying a solid foundation for the brand’s continued momentum.

Customer feedback has also shaped product development, culminating in the C5 X Series, which features a dual-clutch transmission, improved performance, upgraded interior finishes, increased luggage space and enhanced fuel efficiency.

OMODA’s local line-up is steadily broadening. Recent additions include the C7 SHS and C9 SHS, signalling the brand’s growing focus on electrified mobility.

The flagship C9 SHS stands out with outputs of 440 kW and 915 Nm of torque, along with an all-electric range of up to 150 km, positioning it at the top end of the range.

Further expansion is on the horizon with the introduction of the C5 Hybrid and the upcoming C4, as OMODA continues to target a wider spectrum of customers while maintaining its emphasis on design, innovation, efficiency and value.

“Over the past three years, South African customers have shown strong enthusiasm for the OMODA brand, and that response has shaped our journey,” said Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa.

“While the C5 provided a strong foundation, our growing range reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of local drivers.”
