JOHANNESBURG – FIRST National Bank (FNB) has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its nav» ecosystem by unveiling two new digital solutions, nav» Youth and nav» Payroll, as the bank positions its platform to support customers beyond traditional banking services.

Since its launch in 2016, nav» has grown from a personal financial management tool into a broader ecosystem spanning savings, home ownership, vehicle management, sustainability and charitable giving.

FNB says more than six million customers have used nav» Money to improve their financial wellbeing, creating savings goals worth more than R1.75 billion, while engagement has increased 7.5-fold over the past decade.

The bank said nav» Home has facilitated more than R76 billion in home loans, while nav» Car now manages 1.34 million vehicles and has processed 728,000 digital licence renewals.

Meanwhile, nav» Care has enabled donations exceeding R10.5 million to verified charities and community organisations.

Clair Brenner, CEO of nav», said customer behaviour has evolved significantly over the past decade, with financial stability increasingly viewed as the foundation for broader ambitions, including home ownership, entrepreneurship and multiple income streams.

The newly launched nav» Youth is designed to help younger South Africans navigate financial independence through educational content, career guidance and tools covering budgeting, credit and entrepreneurship.

During the first half of FNB’s financial year, the platform recorded more than 450,000 interactions from 94,000 young customers.

FNB has also introduced nav» Payroll, an integrated payroll solution aimed at small businesses.

The platform automates SARS-aligned reporting, generates professional payslips and offers five free payslips each month before charging R25 per additional payslip.

The bank said 132 businesses had already adopted the service organically.

Jolandé Duvenage, CEO of Value Ecosystems & Customer Experience at FNB, said customers increasingly expect integrated solutions that connect financial decisions across different aspects of their lives rather than isolated banking products.

Looking ahead, FNB plans to continue expanding its ecosystem, with solutions such as nav» Earth supporting sustainable energy choices.

To commemorate the milestone, the bank has also launched a six-month gamified anniversary campaign offering prizes including travel experiences, technology devices, retail vouchers and eBucks rewards.
