DAR-ES-SALAAM – AIR Tanzania has launched three weekly non-stop flights connecting Dar es Salaam’s Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) with Seychelles International Airport (SEZ) on Mahé Island, marking a significant boost for regional tourism and travel.

The new service, operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, is expected to strengthen travel ties between East Africa and the Indian Ocean island nation, while enhancing convenience for both leisure and business travellers.

This development provides a seamless link between two of Africa’s most sought-after tourist destinations.

Tanzania offers world-renowned attractions such as the Serengeti National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro and the Zanzibar archipelago, while Seychelles is famed for its pristine white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters and luxury island resorts.

By reducing travel time and eliminating the need for connecting flights, the route is set to stimulate increased tourist flows in both directions.

Travellers from Tanzania and neighbouring countries will now have easier access to Seychelles’ exclusive beach resorts, including the renowned Beachcomber Resorts and Spa properties, while visitors from Seychelles can more conveniently explore Tanzania’s rich wildlife, culture and heritage.

Tourism stakeholders anticipate that the route will positively impact the hospitality sector, boosting hotel occupancy rates, tour operations and related services.

It also opens up new opportunities for trade, investment and cultural exchange between the two destinations.

Air Tanzania’s expansion aligns with broader efforts to position Dar es Salaam as a key aviation hub in the region.

The direct connection is expected to attract international travellers seeking multi-destination African experiences, combining safari adventures with luxury beach holidays.

For holidaymakers, the timing of the flights offers flexibility for short getaways and extended vacations alike, making it easier to plan trips around school holidays and peak travel seasons.

Industry experts believe the new route will not only enhance connectivity but also promote sustainable tourism growth by encouraging longer stays and diversified travel experiences across both destinations.

With demand for unique and accessible travel experiences on the rise, Air Tanzania’s latest route is poised to play a pivotal role in unlocking the tourism potential of both Tanzania and Seychelles, offering travellers an enticing gateway to explore the best of Africa and the Indian Ocean.
